摘 要:
As data-related challenges become ubiquitous inscience, medicine, economics, business and government, the Statistics community is at a crossroads. Challenges and opportunities abound and a new generation of statisticians is needed. In this lecturer, I will start with a discussion of the current state of statistics in the data science era, followed by an overview of ongoing challenges in research and education. Much of the discussion will be drawn from the recent report Statistics at a Crossroads: Who is for the Challenge?prepared for the National Science Foundation, USA. Another major goal of this lecture is to give the participants an overview of some important emerging research areas in statistics. I will also provide my own perspective on a number of questions that are of interest to graduate students and junior researchers in statistics.
