Recruitment Announcement for Postdoctoral Research Fellow
East China Normal University is a comprehensive research-oriented university and was selected as a first-class university under the State's key development in 2017. The Statistics Department of East China Normal University ranked third (tied) in discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2016, was selected as a first-class discipline for national key development in 2017 and listed as a peak discipline in Shanghai in 2018.
To further strengthen statistics discipline development and offer a high-level research platform for outstanding doctors who aspire to engage in statistical research, the Postdoctoral Research Station of Statistics of East China Normal University openly recruits postdoctoral researchers from home and abroad. Relevant matters are hereby announced as below:
I. Admission Conditions
1. Candidates with good moral character, in good physical condition and under the age of 35.
2. Candidates who have obtained a doctoral degree in statistics or related majors in a high-level university or research institution in China or overseas, or who will soon be completing the doctoral dissertation defense.
3. Candidates with high academic level and strong scientific research capability, and having published at least one high-level SCI paper as first author or corresponding author in relevant fields;
4. Candidates with good oral and writing skills in both Chinese and English.
5. Postdoctoral researchers must be completely released from their existing projects during their work period at the research station, and on-the-job postdoctoral researchers will not be recruited.
II. Relevant Treatment
1. The Postdoctoral Research Station of Statistics provides a salary and welfare of RMB300,000/year (before tax), and pays social security and appropriate provident fund in pursuance of national regulations.
2. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for academic visits, exchanges and cooperation in well-known foreign universities as well as joint postdoctoral training in the research station.
3. While working at the research station, applicants can rent the postdoctoral apartments, pursuant to the school’s regulations, and enjoy relevant policies for postdoctoral personnel prescribed by the school (such as residence migration and children's education, etc.);
4. Working period at the station is generally 2 years. Applicants can leave the station ahead of time, however, the working period at the station shall not be less than 21 months. Based on the needs of the research work, the stay at the station can be extended. The process after more than 2 years at the station shall be separately agreed upon by the school, Faculty of Economics and Management and the cooperation tutor.
III. Entry Requirements
From the date of this recruitment notice, applicants should send the following application materials to the contact person:
1. Personal resume (highlighting educational experience, research experience and research expertise).
2. Scanned copies of doctoral graduate certificate and doctoral degree certificate or scanned copies of certification materials for upcoming doctoral graduation.
3. Electronic versions of 2–3 representative academic research works, electronic versions of doctoral dissertations provided by graduates, abstracts and catalogs of doctoral dissertations provided by upcoming graduates.
4. Scanned copies of identity documents.
5. Two letters of reference from experts.
6. Research ideas or work plans for applying to be a postdoctoral researcher.
IV. Recruitment Process
The Postdoctoral Research Station of Statistics will recruit postdoctoral researchers openly, fairly and equally based on the principle of open recruitment and merit-based admission. The station will examine application materials on a preliminary basis, and candidates who pass the preliminary examination will be interviewed at the appropriate time. Application materials will not be returned.
