On the afternoon of July 29, local time, the signing ceremony of our school's strategic cooperation with the American Institute of Statistics and Applied Mathematics (SAMSI) was held at the Annual Conference on Statistics (JSM) in Denver, USA. Zhang Riquan, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of Statistics and Data Science, President of the Statistical Institute, Zhou Yingchun, Secretary of the Labor Party Branch of the Statistical Institute, and relevant researchers from both sides jointly attended the signing ceremony.
Zhang Riquan first welcomed the arrival of David Banks, Director of the Institute of Statistics and Applied Mathematics in the United States, and warmly congratulated the official launch of the cooperation. Zhang said that the Institute of Statistics and Applied Mathematics, funded by the National Natural Fund of the United States, has brought together researchers from academia, industry, national laboratories and government agencies to study frontier issues in the field of statistics and applied mathematics. The Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of the Frontier Theory and Application of Statistics and Data Science in our university has a deep research foundation in the cross-disciplines of statistics and data science, and has distinct characteristics and advantages. The cooperation will give full play to their respective advantages in scientific research and human resources, carry out joint research on major issues and key technologies, jointly promote the recruitment and introduction of personnel, jointly train postgraduates and postdoctoral students, and build a level of personnel training, complement each other's strengths, win-win cooperation, so as to seek the follow-up of both sides.
