The in-depth integration of big data technology and various industries has greatly promoted the development of informatization in various industries, but also brought great opportunities and challenges for statistical theory, methods and applications. The Summer School of Statistics and Data Science 2019, sponsored by the School of Statistics of East China Normal University, will be held in Minhang Campus of East China Normal University from 9 July to 19 July 2019. This summer school will elaborate the frontier theory and application of data analysis, covering such important hot topics as mixed model, small area estimation, biostatistics, causal inference, high-dimensional data analysis and longitudinal data analysis, with a view to enriching graduate students'knowledge structure, broadening their horizons, stimulating innovation enthusiasm and promoting them. Summer School Profile
East China Normal University is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education, 211 Project and 985 Project key construction universities. In 2017, the school entered the ranks of A-type construction universities of world-class universities, opening up a new journey of building world-class universities with Chinese characteristics in an all-round way. Statistics is an important traditional dominant discipline of East China Normal University. It is one of the earliest bases for training senior talents in the fields of statistics, insurance actuarial science and financial engineering in China. The doctoral program of probability theory and mathematical statistics of our university was approved and established in 1986. It is one of the earliest three national key disciplines of probability theory and mathematical statistics in China. Statistical specialty was selected in Class A construction plan of Shanghai's first-class disciplines in 2013, Applied Statistical and Theoretical Research Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Base in 2013, the Ministry of Education and the State Bureau of Foreign Experts in the Intelligence Introduction Plan for Discipline Innovation in Colleges and Universities, and the key laboratory construction plan in Shanghai's universities in 2014. In the fourth round of the subject evaluation of the Ministry of Education, the Statistics Department of our school ranks in category A. In 2017, statistics of East China Normal University also entered the ranks of first-class discipline construction. 2018 will be included in the scope of peak discipline construction in Shanghai. In the same year, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education on the frontier theory and application of statistics and data science was formally prepared with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
1. Enrollment methods
Recruitment targets: Doctors, Masters and senior undergraduates in statistics, data mining and big data analysis and related disciplines. Good mathematical and physical foundation, strong interest in statistics or data science, interested in academic research or doctoral degree, and strong or potential research ability are required.
Enrollment scale: about 60 formal trainees.
The acceptance notice will be sent by e-mail in late June 2019. Excellent students who cannot be admitted due to the quota restriction can participate as auditors.
